June 2018 Update!

As usual, it’s been far too long since I’ve updated ye olde webpage.  So, here are a couple of quick things.

For those of you who don’t know, we’ve started carrying Games Workshop products.  It was a big decision for us to start stocking them, but after almost a year now, I’m sold on their new policies towards their retailers and customers.  We have a huge Warhammer 40k following now, and with the new edition of Age of Sigmar coming out in a couple of weeks, I’ll be picking up more of the fantasy line.  Check out our Minatures Group for more updates.

We had our first 40k tournament last weekend, I’d like to thank everyone who turned out.  There are a few bugs I’ll need to work out with our events, but we’ll be hosting more in the future :)

Our Friday Night Magic crowd, while diminished, is still going strong.  We’ve been playing a lot of EDH format every Friday night.  Speaking of EDH, we have a couple of the Commander Anthologies left, get them while they last!  We’ll also be hosting a Magic 2019 Pre-release in July.  Watch our Facebook page and our magic group for more info on those events.

New Stuff!!!!

Greetings all!!

No, we are not dead, no we are not out of business, YES, we have moved…well, we actually moved over a year ago, but despite all the signs on the old shop, people still insist we went under and closed.  I assure you, nothing could be FURTHER from the truth.  The only thing that’s been “dead” is our poor website.  Which I am attempting to remedy now :)

For those of you who don’t know (and why don’t you???) we moved the shop across the hall in the Westwood mall last February.  The shop is about 3 times larger than our old space, so we have more than enough room for all.  It’s not hard to find, just come in the mall doors on the north side and walk about 10 feet.  You’ll pass the old shop, which still has a sign pointing you in the direction of the new shop, which, if you can’t find….well…you’re going to be on your own.  We are literally 20 feet kitty-corner from the old shop.

What may have caused people to believe we closed shop was the removal of our sign from the old space.  We had a new (very small) sign on our back door, but I think it was too hard to see.  So….I now present to you our NEW and improved signage!!

The new sign is much easier to see (especially at night!!).

A huge Goblin Town Thank you to Dennis and Caleb over at Sign A Rama, a special thanks to Caleb for all his hard work on the new design.

This July we will be starting our 6th year serving all your gaming needs in Pocatello and the surround area.  Thank you all for your continued support, it means a tremendous amount to me to see everyone continuing to come in each week, and seeing new faces.  I hope we can continue to give you all a place to come throw dice, draw cards, and show of your miniature painting skills :)

Keep watching our Facebook groups for current updates on events.

I have also just started the Goblin Town Discount Emporium! Which is a fancy name for our eBay store.  The discounts on the webstore aren’t as good as they are if you walk in the shop, so please continue to come in.  The webstore isn’t meant to replace the physical store by any means, it’s just a way I can get a lot of our clearance items out to a broader market.  It’s not just our clearance items, there are some new products on there too, check it out, if you see something you like, make an offer :).  I’ll be adding more to the Emporium as the weeks roll on, so check back often.

GOOD LORD ALL!!!  Sorry it’s been so long since you’ve gotten an update about the shop, things have been very, very busy for us.  So, let’s get started!

First off, the move is complete!! (and there was much rejoicing).  We have move the shop, but don’t be alarmed, the new location is about 30 feet from the old location.  We are still in the Westwood Mall, but we are in suite 10 now.  All that means, is, if you go to the old shop, turn left, take about 10 steps, and you’ll see us. I’ll get some new photos up soon.  So, for those of you who haven’t stopped by in a while, come on down and check out the new shop.  It’s much larger, and has plenty of room for everyone.

Next, a huge thank you to everyone who came out last weekend for the Dragons of Tarkir Pre-release.  Both of the events were full.  I hope everyone had at good time :)  I was planning on being there for the midnight, but unfortunately real life interfered, as it often does, and I was only able to hang out for a little while.  Thanks to everyone who continues to support the store and our events.  It’s your support that makes us one of the best game stores in the area.  I’m looking forward to many more years of delivering your gaming needs :)

Third!  This Friday is the RELEASE of Dragons of Tarkir, doors open at 4pm, come in and get it while this first shipment lasts!  We should have plenty, but, as always, the fat packs will go quick.

Also, this Saturday is the Vegas Grand Prix Trial, you can register anytime between now and 4pm Saturday.

In addition to the GPT, the NETRUNNER Store Championship is this saturday.  Doors will be open at noon for registration and the event will begin at 1pm.  We should have plenty of room for both events.  We will have more info on both in the Goblin Town Magic and the Goblin Town Board Gamers groups on Facebook.

We are also happy to welcome Woodland Scenics to our products line.  Woodland Scenics has been a staple in the model scenery world forever.  You’ll be able to see what is possible with their products very soon.  There are two display table set up in our front window.  One will be an example of a modular terrain board for wargaming and the other will be more of a dioramic set up.  Both of these projects will be very time consuming.  My first though was to just build the terrain pieces and bring them down, but I changed my mind and thought you all might actually enjoy seeing both tables as works-in-progress.

Well, for now, that should do it for updates.  There’s been a lot going on at the shop, so come on down and get yer games on!

Overdue Anniversary Update!!!

Hey all!  As usual, I have many projects in the works, and far too little time to keep up with them :)

As many of you know, we had a very difficult beginning to the year, and are finally starting to recover.  Thanks to all of you who have supported the store through the previous months, it’s been a very rough road, but we’re almost out of the woods :)

SO, to celebrate our third year serving your gaming needs, I’ve made a slight change to the Goblin Army.  In addition to the extra discount you already receive, members are also enrolled in our rewards program.  For every $200.00 a Goblin Army member spends, you will, receive 25% off your next purchase (that’s not an additional 25%, just 25% instead of 20% ;) ).  If you’re not in the Goblin Army (and why aren’t you?) you still receive the standard 15% discount.  In order to make sure you’re getting your credit towards your bonus, please remind us you’re a member when you’re making a purchase.

Also, we’re happy to announce we’ve added Dark Age Miniatures to our product line.  If you haven’t seen their game, check it out.  The rules are free and very easy to learn.  It’s a skirmish level sci-fi game and very affordable.  We’ve been playing it quite a bit and it’s a lot of fun!

A big thank you to everyone who turned out for the Magic 2015 Pre-Release and Release events :) .  Wes is now a level 1 judge, so we may be getting some larger events, depending on his schedule.  Stay tuned to our  Goblin Town Magic Facebook group for further info on our upcoming event schedule.

We're back!

For those of you who don't know, the store was closed for the last ten days due to a customer who brought in a bottle of Mercury and broke that bottle on the floor.  For everyone who thinks this is not a big deal, let me assure you that it was.  Mercury is extremely dangerous and we had to close the store.  The clean up is not simple and has cost several thousand dollars.  The incident is being investigated by all of the agencies involved, and let me assure you that it will be dealt with appropriately.  That being said, I won't discuss this matter any further.

We are now Mercury free and will be open for business again this Monday (Feb 24).  I will ask you all to continue to be patient, as it will take some time for the store to recover from this loss.  For the next few weeks, our orders will not be the same volume that they have been, but I will continue to restock our primary products and do my best to fill in the gaps in the inventory as quickly as I can.

Thank you all for your continued support and patronage ~ John

Born of the Gods Pre-Release

Sorry for the extended time between updates all, I've been super busy.

Here's the info a lot of you have been waiting for!  The Born of the Gods Pre-Release events are on February 1st.  We will be hosting our first ever Midnight Event (there will also be an event later in the day, for those of you not wanting to stay up all night).

Due to the limited number of player packs that I was able to get, we are limited on the number of seats.  So, here's the event info:

Midnight Pre-Release (sealed deck)

$25.00 entry/player

ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE - which means if you pre-register and don't show up, you're out the $25.00 and your player pack.

There will be 32 seats for the Midnight Event - At-the-door registration will begin at 11pm, and the event will start at midnight! We will not be waiting around for stragglers to come in at 1230 or 1245.  If you want to participate in this event be there early enough to make the starting time.  The doors will lock at midnight and no one will be allowed in after that.  The mall is nice enough to let us host a late night event, so that's the condition.

Event #2 will also be a sealed deck event:

There will be 28 seats for this event (I was only allocated 60 player packs)

Registration starts at 3pm, event begins at 4 (again, that does not mean come in at 4 and register, the event starts at 4, registration is at 3 or you can pre-register)

As with the midnight event, the registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.  If you pre-register and don't show up, you will forfeit your registration fee and your player pack.

There will also be a very limited number of Born of the Gods starters available for purchase for Open Dueling.

There will be boosters for prize support, as well as promos for all the participants.

After the afternoon event has drawn to a close, any additional player packs will be available for sale ($25.00), but I wouldn't count on there being many left over.

Pre-Registration begins today (01-24) at 4pm at Goblin Town.  You will need to come in and pay, and hang onto your receipt, that will be your "ticket" on event day :)

Hope to see you there!

Black Friday is Upon Us!!!!

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen!!  It's been far too long since my last update to the page, so here's a little goodie for you :)

Since I completely hate the entire concept of Black Friday, where in people completely forget the entire spirit of the season, I've decided to do a little something about it at Goblin Town.

Because I know how tight a lot of your purse strings are this time of year, and I know you could all stand to save a little cash, I'm not having a Black Friday Sale.  I'm going to have a store wide 25% off sale that will run from this Friday, through December 6th (next Friday).  This sale is for everyone, regardless of your Goblin Army standing, so come on down and take advantage of the savings.  As an added bonus, if you bring in the below coupon, you'll receive an extra 5% off (yep, a total of 30% off your purchase).  You will need to have the coupon to get the extra discount!!!!

The only item in the shop that is not included in this sale is our selection of Army Transport bags, they are still 15% off (and no, sadly the coupon will no bump that up to 20%).  But, everything else, miniatures, paints, magic, RPG's, board games, you name it, is 30% off with the coupon.

So enjoy your holiday season, have fun,  be nice to each other, and remember why you're out there giving rather than receiving.

September Bones Update

Just a couple of quick updates.

Recently, we recieved the remainder of our Reaper Bones miniatures. Which mean we can finally get our Goblin Town Bones Painting Competition underway!!!

Here are rules:

It is a competition for painting Reaper Bones only.

Your entry must be purchased at Goblin Town Games, the purchase price of the miniature is the entry fee.

You have until October 5th to finish painting your entry. You can enter at any time prior to that, but obviously, it's better to enter early, so you'll have more time to finish.

There are 3 categories:

Small - the majority of the bones blister packs
Medium - the larger blisters, like the giants and some of the dragons
Large - the boxed miniatures

You can enter once in each category, so 3 total entries if you wish.

There will be a winner for each category and a best of show.

You must fill out your entry form at the time of purchase, so if you come in and pick up some bones for the competition, be sure to ask for the entry form. The forms will be kept at the store so please fill them out at the time of purchase.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the contest :)
